In December, 1994, I decided it was finally time to find a feline companion for my cat Feedback, whose brother had died a few months earlier. Cat Crossing had some cats up for adoption in a nearby pet store, so I decided to stop by just to look. Of course, I wound up taking Laptop home with me.

Laptop was raised by people since she was three days old (something happened to her mother, so she had to be fed with an eyedropper). She's a very friendly cat.

Most distinguishing characteristic: An extremely loud purr (I keep expecting the neighbors to complain about the noise).

Favorite beverage: Running water from the bathtub.

Favorite official cat toy: A "kitty tease" fishing-pole toy.

Most serious addiction: Chasing the red dot produced by a laser pointer.

Favorite game: Swatting the end of a pen or pencil as I'm trying to write with it.

Most serious household duty: Supervising the cleaning of the litter box.

Newest trick: Hitting the snooze alarm on my clock-radio in the morning.

Most disconcerting trick: Flushing the toilet in the middle of the night.

Most destructive habit: Chewing through the spiral cord that connects the telephone handset to the phone (she's did this twice, including once while I was on the phone; Tabasco sauce on the cord eventually convinced her to stop).
