ATOMIC Link-Layer Multicast

Myricom only supports link-layer serial broadcast.

• No (switch-level) hardware multicast is supported.
• The source unicasts a separate copy of the multicast message to every node in the LAN.
  • High multicast latency.
• The message is filtered by IP on each host.
  • Waste SBus bandwidth.

ATOMIC link-layer multicast implementation.

• Use unicast-based multicast approach.
  • Achieve the minimum multicast latency.
  • Save SBus bandwidth by only allowing the copy of multicast message reach a destination node in the multicast group.
• The current implementation status.
  • The algorithm design is done.
  • On-going integration with Myricom's new software release.
  • The technical report will be ready soon.
