The ATOMIC File Server

Goals

• Create a Network File Server that can take advantage of the ATOMIC LAN bandwidth
• Base the server on existing protocols, Sun's NFS, so the system can be adopted easily
• Demonstrate a working prototype system

Results

• NFS write protocol throughput improved by 30%
  • No disk writes
• NFS write throughput to RAM disk improved by 18%
  • Uses prototype hardware
