Researchers funded by the
EMIST project formed the initial core of the DETERlab
research community, but an expanding set of other users have employed DETERlab.
There was constant interchange between the security researchers funded by
EMIST and and the testbed builders of the DETER project. Within the EMIST
project, the researchers organized themselves into three collaborative
areas (DDoS, worms, and routing).
The DETERlab staff holds a monthly telephone conference to which al
users are invited to discuss testbed operations, requirements,
etc. Details will be available to all registered users.
To foster testbed builder/user communication, the DETER project holds
regular community meetings for DETERlab testbed users and builders.
The agendas and slides of the most recent
meetings are online.
Many peer-reviewed publications
as well as some theses and technical reports
have used results obtained on
DETERlab.
The DETERlab testbed has also been used as a laboratory by university-level cyber-security
classes.
