Getting Started
To request a project account on DETERlab, a researcher uses the
DETERlab web interface to submit a
project
description . A key part of this description specifies any
risks inherent in the experiment, so that the DETERlab administrative group can ensure that
appropriate containment mechanisms will be in place when the experiment runs.
Documentation
The very extensive online
documentation provided by Utah's Emulab system has been
adapted and extended on the DETERlab testbed. For example, a detailed list of the current
DETERlab testbed hardware will be found there.
In addition, a logged-in testbed user will have access to DETERlab-specific
information, including tools and tool documentation,
a collection of informal technical notes by testbed staff and users.
Email Lists
The following mailing lists are relevant to the users of DETERlab.
- deterlab-users@isi.deterlab.net
Every DETERlab user is automatically a member of this list.
It is intended for general discussions within the DETERlab user
community, providing an opportunity for users to interact, compare
notes, and help each other.
Testbed operators monitor it for issues relevant to operation or
design of the testbed.
- testbed-ops@isi.deterlab.net
Users may report problems to the DETER operations staff on
this list. It includes a few testbed designers and also some
reps of the Utah Emulab group as well as the operations staff.
- deter@isi.edu
Automatically-created list of those DETER users who are also project
leaders/PIs. It is used only for administrative announcements and
discussion.
