Registration in the International Organization Domain

The .INT Domain

To register in the INT domain, the applicant must comply with the requirements found in RFC 1591. In brief, the INT domain is used only for registering organizations established by international treaties between governments or Internet infrastructure databases (for example to do address to name lookups based on NSAPs).

If you believe you meet these qualifications and want to apply for a domain name under INT please send the IANA a description of your organization.

Requests must be accompanied by a pointer to the treaty reference and a hard copy of a treaty summary or the treaty itself should be forwarded to:

There are discussions underway with a number of organizations regarding the future of the INT domain. The current plan is to transfer the management of the INT domain to the ITU. The ITU plans may be found at:

The ITU vision

There has been some confusion where some people are using the ITU rules instead of ours.

The INT domain is used only for registering organizations established by international treaties between governments, or Internet infrastructure databases (for example to do address to name lookups based on NSAPs).

We should be able to look up the international treaty in the UN online database of treaties, or you should provide us a copy. Please be sure what you provide is a treaty, not the constitution or by-laws of the organization.

We explicitly recognize as organizations qualified for domain names under the INT top-level domain the "specialized agencies" of the UN (currently there are 14 of these), the "non-member states" (currently 2, see note 1) and the organizations having "observer status" at the UN (currently 16, see note 2).

If you believe you meet these qualifications and want to apply for an domain name under INT please send the IANA a description of your organization including an online reference to the treaty that established it, or a hardcopy, and fill out the application found on this website.

Thank You.

IANA
