Division Overview The Information Sciences Institute at the University of Southern California is a research facility located off campus in Marina del Rey. It is active in a number of areas of computer science, including networking, software engineering, and artificial intelligence. The AI group at ISI is one of the largest in the country, and is continuing to experience rapid growth. Research projects at ISI typically involve a collaboration of research scientists, programmers, and graduate students. A number of ISI staff members are also research faculty in the Department of Computer Science, and advise graduate students on directed research projects and dissertations. Many graduate students at USC complete their degrees while working as research assistants on ISI projects.
