All releases are system independent and can be compiled on any system with a java 1.02 compiler. Download the file to your home directory and uncompress it using the UNIX tar command. A directory called classes/ will be created. The README file in this directory explains its contents and tells you how to get started.
[Note: to use Diagen 2.0 with I-Doc 2.0, you will need to update the I-Doc
file navigate-graph, and replace
the pathname of the variable $javafile.]
Media-Doc is known to work on the following platforms:
| Sun OS 5.5 | Netscape 2.0, 3.0 |
| HPUX 9.01 | Netscape 3.0 |
| IRIS 5.3 | Netscape 3.0 |
| Windows 95 | Microsoft Explorer 3.0 |
On Unix platforms, the behavior of a Java-enabled Netscape browser seems to depend on both the platform on which the browser is run and the platform on which it is displayed. For example, if you run Netscape on a SunOS platform, but display it on an HP, you may not see problems specific to SunOS, but you may see some entirely new problems. The platform specfic problems listed below are noted when the browser is run and displayed on the same machine.
| Sun OS 5.5 | No known problems. |
| HPUX 9.01 | No known problems. |
| IRIX 5.3 | No known problems. |
| Windows 95 | No known problems. |
| Macintosh | No known problems. |
