Media-Doc Diagram Generator
Release Information and Download Instructions


The following releases are available for download:

Release 3.1 (graph + improved animation + logical views): Diagen3.1-971030.tar.Z (79KB)
Release 3.0 (graph + animation + logical views): Diagen3.0-970624.tar.Z (75KB)
Release 2.0 (graph + animation): Diagen2.0-970328.tar.Z (72KB)
Release 1.0 (graph only - early and buggy version): Diagen1.0-961217.tar.Z (54KB)

All releases are system independent and can be compiled on any system with a java 1.02 compiler. Download the file to your home directory and uncompress it using the UNIX tar command. A directory called classes/ will be created. The README file in this directory explains its contents and tells you how to get started.

[Note: to use Diagen 2.0 with I-Doc 2.0, you will need to update the I-Doc file navigate-graph, and replace the pathname of the variable $javafile.]


Release and development information:

Media-Doc is being developed in java under SunOS 5.5 (Solaris). The Diagen software includes a server, for serving the MAP files, and client for displaying the resulting graph.

Bugs and restrictions:

Netscape Java implementations differ across versions and platforms and below is a list of some platform-independent problems we've had with the Diagram Generator.

On Unix platforms, the behavior of a Java-enabled Netscape browser seems to depend on both the platform on which the browser is run and the platform on which it is displayed. For example, if you run Netscape on a SunOS platform, but display it on an HP, you may not see problems specific to SunOS, but you may see some entirely new problems. The platform specfic problems listed below are noted when the browser is run and displayed on the same machine.
