Q: What is a bagel?
A: Hey, are you from Mars?
Q: What is Bagel Hour?
A: Every other Tuesday, the AI staff and students gather, socialize, and discuss deep issues over a lunch of bagels and other assorted delicacies in the 9th floor conference room. Bagel Hour generally begins at noon, but watch your email for announcements of any change in the start time.
Q: Who runs Bagel Hour?
A: Bagel Hour is run by its patrons. Bagel hour attendees are are expected to host Bagel Hour once or twice a year. Steven Minton and Kary Lau are currently coordinating bagel hour. Send mail to minton@isi.edu to volunteer to host a bagel hour.
Q: How do I pay?
A: At each Bagel Hour, we have a basket set up to collect donations. There is a suggested price list next to the basket. But feel free to guesstimate, since we don't care whether you put in exactly the right amount of cash. But we do care whether we break even, so if you are so inclined, please feel free to put in a bit extra. We are establishing a little slush fund in case we overspend occasionally (which we do).
Q: It's a pain to pay each time. Can I give you a donation in advance?
A: Yes. We are going to try this out on a trial basis. Simply figure out what you usually spend, add a bit extra, and give the amount to Steve Minton (bagel fund maintainer). We will rely on you to remember when it is time for you to contribute again.

Q: How did bagel hour get started?
A: We stole (hmmm...borrowed) the idea from the AI group at NASA Ames.
