(Day before) Send message to 'isd-staff' to remind everyone about the upcoming bagel hour. (Or ask Kary to do it for you.) Please send the message before 3pm
1. Take inventory by checking with the last host to figure out if there are any special leftovers or things at we need. If you forget, don't worry about this, because it's rare that we need to alter the standard shopping list.
2. Shop for supplies: Purchase any necessary supplies .Keep track of expenses.
3. Buy bagels: In the Marina, try East Coast Bagels (next to Mens Wearhouse, near Jerry's Deli) or Manhattan Bagel Co (used to be called I & JOY Bagels, on Lincoln Blvd). Ralphs and other "grocery store" bagels are discouraged.
4. Before you set up, send message to 'isd-staff' to remind everyone about the upcoming bagel hour, which starts at noon.
5. About 40 minutes before the bagel hour, start setting things up. A jar of mustard and a small jar of mayo are available from the fridge (they are marked "bagel hour"). The paper supplies (cups, plates, napkins) are currently available through Kary. (Soon we will purchase our own supply.) Ask for help if you need it.
6. Get money basket and price list from Kary, and put them by table near the door. If Kary cannot be located, collect money in a different vessel. (The price list is also on ballona. Search for "bagel prices".)
7. After bagel hour winds down, clean up. If there are any leftovers that will last two weeks, put them away and tell Steve about them (or tell next bagel volunteer). Any leftovers that can't last that long (e.g. fruit, bagels) put on the kitchen table, and put a little cup next to them with sign to the effect of: "Please take, but consider leaving a small small donation (like .25 cents) for bagel hour". (It's not necessary to ask for donations, but we could use the cash.)
8. Reimburse yourself from proceeds of the bagel hour, figure out whether there is a surplus or deficit, and reconcile with Steve, who maintains the bagel hour fund. There's no need to provide receipts, we are very informal.
9. Thanks! You get bagels, etc. for free this week for taking on this not-so-herculean task.
