Education
MSC will open an effective way of integrating students, graduate and undergraduate, into cutting edge research and in new space technologies. The research programs of MSC will provide research assistantships (RAs) to graduate engineering students. In addition, it is anticipated that a number of undergraduate engineering students will participate in MSC projects. These arrangements will give highly valuable experience of working in teams on real-life projects. This close link between MSC's R&D programs and training of the future generation of space engineers will assure diffusion of the accumulated technologies and processes to the American Space Industry.
Applications
Applications include earth imaging, sensor networks for remote sensing, providing communications and bandwidth to specific isolated areas, asset and people tracking, space weather, space science, imaging, and applications in support of Lunar and Martian exploration. Highly maneuverable satellites are particularly interesting for flying over or pointing to specific areas and for in-space docking and assembly of large structures Another is in constellations of microsatellites flying in formation to make large, virtual apertures.
