Vision
To use microsatellites, to expand the use of space in the service of mankind and to bring the "personal computer revolution" to space through research and building small, functional, affordable satellites alone, in formations and in constellations.
Mission
Research USC-MSC engages in research in microsatellite-centric pervasive science and technology. New miniaturization technology is encouraging new thinking across the entire scale of spacecraft and their applications, but nowhere more than in micro and small satellites. The research includes not only designing/developing, but also building, launching, and placing experimental microsatellites on orbit to test, evaluate and validate the research.

Industrial Synergy Satellite science and technology, applicable to all classes of spacecraft, is prominently represented in Southern California, the heart of the space industry, and the Center will enhance it.

Education Students, working as members of USC-MSC R&D teams, will acquire experience highly valued by Industry and Government R&D centers. The Center will provide a stimulating research environment and will give both undergraduate and graduate students hands-on experience to prepare them to be the Space Workforce of the Future and the thrill of seeing their work launched and placed in orbit.
