I was born in 1969 in Freiburg, Germany, but I grew up mostly in Stuttgart, where my family moved when I was five. After graduating from highschool in 1988, I spent the next eight years studying at universities and college in Germany, the United States, and Japan. In November, 1996, I graduated from the Ruhr-University Bochum, Germany, with a Master's degree in General Linguistics, Japanese Linguistics, and Applied Linguistics with Particular Reference to the Teaching and Learning of Foreign Languages. Since June, 1997, I have been working at the Information Sciences Institute in Marina del Rey, CA. If you care for details, check out my CV.
