CBR dither question:

Hi there,

The only information about adding dithering to CBR generation that I found was
in the manual page for ns (whereas "ns Notes and Documentation" do not even
mention it, what's new):


  CBR (CONSTANT BIT RATE) TRAFFIC OBJECTS
         Application/Traffic/CBR objects generate packets at a con-
         stant rate.  Dither can be added to the interarrival times
         by enabling the "random" flag.

         Configuration Parameters
  [...]
                random_
                       Flag  that  turns  dithering  on   and   off
                       (default is off).


Does anyone know anything about the basic statistical properties of
this dither??  And, can these properties be modified, and, if so, how?
