[ns] scalability

Hi,all, another question about ns is its scalability.
the chapter 7 .scale in ns manual provides the idea of session-level
packet distribution, I wonder if I can use it to do comparison of reliable 
multicast. where can I can more detail idea about it, is the paper:
enabling large-scale simulations:selective abstraction approach to the
study of mutlicast protocols corresponding by P.Huang ?
