release, enumerates the data that we wish to request.
4. In order to access student grades, generally, schools must have
written permission from the eligible student. However, FERPA allows
schools to disclose those records, without consent, to school officials
with legitimate educational interest. Please upload correspondence
from the relevant school/department giving the researcher
permission. The correspondence should be on letterhead and signed
by the relevant official. If written permission from the school
cannot be obtained, then researchers must generate template
correspondence requesting students permission to access their
grades. The document should be uploaded into section 40
