Abstract

We experimentally demonstrate a tunable and reconfigurable optical discrete Fourier transform (DFT) to demultiplex orthogonal-frequency-division-multiplexed subcarriers with 2/3/4 subcarriers at 20/40&\#x2009;&\#x2009;GHz frequency spacing. An average power penalty of &\#x223C;5&\#x2009;&\#x2009;dB (&\#x223C;3.5) at bit error ratio of 10&\#x2212;9 is achieved for 4&\#xD7;20&\#x2009;&\#x2009;Gbit/s (4&\#xD7;10&\#x2009;&\#x2009;Gbit/s) OFDM signal with 20&\#xA0;GHz frequency spacing.
