Need estimates

I need an estimate for:
        a. Bits per Hertz over the airwaves
        b. Watts per meter when transmitting over the airwaves
I would appreciate it if someone could point me in the direction of an answer.

I imagine there are parameters (at least for b) which need to be defined before a
meaningful estimate can be derived. I would appreciate it if someone could list the
most important parameters (ex., is the transmission spread spectrum, directional or
unidirectional, etc).
