Laboratory Exercises

You will perform 10 laboratory exercises during the semester. These exercises emphasize installation and configuration of popular software subsystems. Some of them either require you to program automated front-ends to system administration tasks, or conduct performance experiments on a particular software subsystem.

The descriptions of these exercises may change upto a week before the due date. Please re-check these pages to get a current version of the exercise.

Homeworks are to be submitted to the GRADER. Do NOT post answers to the class email list or to the instructor or TA.

Submission Procedure and Ethics

Please make sure you finish your assignments in one sitting. Next time you come back to the lab, someone else might have used the same computer and completed the assignment. If half of your work is overwritten by someone else's work and you submit the whole thing as yours, I consider this as cheating. Also, once you finish your assignment, please bring any configuration file you modified to the state it was in before you arrived.
