| Getting to ISI for CSCI
558 Summer 2001 |
ISI is located in Marina del Rey, at 4676 Admiralty Way. See the ISI main pages for directions.Class (EXCEPT the first day, which is the diagnostic exam - which is held at USC) will be held at ISI.
Students using their own transportation (cars, motorcycles, bicycles, etc.) must use public parking. The most cost-effective parking is the county lot on Mindinao, across Admiralty, and diagonally southwest from ISI. The lot takes quarters and dollar bills, and costs $2.00 for full-day parking.
The best way to get to that lot is going west down Mindinao; as you pass ISI (on your right, to the north) you will cross Admiralty Way. The lot is the THIRD left turn towards a parking lot (the first is the Marina del Rey Chamber of Commerce building, which doesn't appreciate having its 10-car lot overloaded, and the second is the exit to the lot you want). There are other county lots nearby - notably on the northwest corner of Admiralty and Bali (about a block north), and there is some street parking back in the twisty streets on the southeast corner of Lincoln Blvd. and Mindinao. There are also some free lots a block south and further west on Fiji Way.
Fair warning: The shopping center near ISI is NOT a public parking lot; cars parked there have been towed when their occupants are seen leaving the lot. Also, the lot at the base of ISI is both very expensive and has a very limited number of spots.
Students are not permitted to bring vehicles (bikes, scooters, etc.) into the building.
Class (EXCEPT the first day, which is the diagnostic exam - which is held at USC) will be held at ISI, in the southern of the two large towers on the 11th floor in the small conference room. Access to this area is limited.
There will be a sign in the elevator lobby indicating what telephone number to dial. Do NOT knock on the door; do NOT prop the door open.
Students access is limited to the classroom (the 11th floor small conference room) and the bathrooms. Students are warned NOT to wander or disturb other areas or researchers in the building.
NOTE - ISI is a part of USC, and its building security is as strictly maintained. Students found violating these procedures will be expelled from the class.
Office hours are by appointment only, or before class. There is a different number for access (89151). Do NOT 'tailgate', or follow others in.
