ISI FPB Sample Shopping List
Everyone who hosts the bagel breakfast tailors this list somewhat, based on
their own preferences. Consider this a reasonable staring point:
- Bagels/toppings
- 3 dozen assorted bagels; limit the number of sweet ones (most people
tend towards egg, plain, wheat, poppy, onion, salt, etc. than towards
raisin, cinnamon, blueberry, cranberry, chocolate, etc.)
- 4 12-oz tubs of whipped cream cheese, or 5-6 bricks of 8-oz cream cheese
(whipped tends to be popular, flavors not as much, and at most one 'light'
or 'fat-free')
- lox (I tend to get about 1-1.25 lbs of lox trimmings across the street,
which is economical)
- Vegetables
- 2 green bell peppers
- 3 large avocadoes
- 3 large tomatoes
- 2 large white onions
- sometimes alfalfa sprouts, lettuce, etc. - in small quantities
- Fruit
- whatever is in season is best
- one of:
- 1 canteloupe & 1 honeydew
- 1 watermelon
- 1-2 tubs of berries or grapes
- one of:
- 8 apples (w/lime juice to prevent browning; 4 red, 4 green)
- 8 oranges (wedged)
- 1-2 pineapples
- Sweets (pick 1-2) - homemade are appreciated, but not necessary
- 2 packages of danish (e.g., Entemann's)
- Cookies
- Brownies
- Other
- Candy or other items of the season (esp. for holidays)
- Other food you like to make/eat (for us to sample!)
