Visiting Scholars

Research scientists who are intrigued with ISI, but not seeking long-term employment, may join us as Visiting Scholars. While we don’t operate a formal program, Visiting Scholars may be invited by ISI project leaders at any time. Individuals typically are on corporate leaves-of-absence, academic sabbaticals or other interim professional status.

Qualified researchers are able to explore fresh information-science challenges – or fresh approaches to those challenges – with highly regarded colleagues and USC graduate students. Because every Visiting Scholar also brings his or her own perspective and expertise to ISI, we recognize that their presence helps us remain vibrant and diverse.

Funding may originate with ISI, the Visiting Scholar or both. Arrangements are decided by the Scholar, project leader and his or her division head on a case-by-case basis.

Please see the Careers section for more on ISI’s unique, hybrid environment. For possible Visiting Scholar opportunities, please contact the research Director in your area of expertise.
