Replica Location Service Code

The RLS client package depends on the location of Java, if you wish to build the Java version of the API. The server package depends on the location IODBC. The following environment variables should be set prior to RLS installation (the default location is in square brackets):

JAVA_HOME Top level directory where JDK is installed.
GLOBUS_IODBC_PATH [$GLOBUS_LOCATION] Top level directory where IODBC is installed.
ODBCINI [$GLOBUS_LOCATION/var/odbc.ini] Path of odbc.ini file.

The current release of RLS is version 2.1.4. This version includes significant changes to the API, so the previous release (1.1.8) is also available for sites that haven't upgraded yet. API changes include better support for server limits on the size of result lists from queries, and all functions return a globus_result_t rather than an integer status code.

As of release 2.0.6 RLS development is done using PostgreSQL and psqlODBC, rather than MySQL and MyODBC. This is due to licensing issues with MyODBC. The RLS software continues to work with MySQL and MyODBC however.

The following links are to bundles as distributed from www.globus.org. These bundles include all the Globus libraries that RLS depends on. They will shortly be available from www.globus.org when RLS becomes part of the Globus Toolkit. Note if you download either of the server bundles you do not need a client bundle, the client bundle is included in the server bundle. Two versions of the bundles are provided, one packaged with Globus Toolkit 2.4 (GT2) and one with GT3.
