Squirrel is an Abbyssinian Cat. One of the oldest established breeds, Abbisynians are not actually from Abbyssinia, and look more like a good old fashioned California Cougar than your garden variety house cat. He would be fierce, except for the fact he only has about three teeth
Abbyssinian's fur has a distinctive "ticked" color, and is based on one single gene, called Ta (ticked tabby), which does not occur so strictly in other breeds. Ruddy Abbyssinians, such as the fine speciman to the left, have a red base, ticked with black, making them look a lot like the Fox Squirrels which are common in Los Angeles, so there you go.
