This Linux cluster has 256 compute nodes, with four CPU cores per node, for a total of 1024 cores. Each node has 16 GBs of RAM and an NVIDIA CTS 8800 Graphics Processing Unit (GPU), which will be used as General Purpose GPU (GPGPU), to accelerate those computations that are amenable to optimization by this method. Due to the nature of the simulations for which this cluster is desgined, inter-node communications are accomplished by Gigabit Ethernet. |
