Workshop on
KNOWLEDGE
CAPTURE FOR PLANNING APPLICATIONS
in conjunction with the
14th International Conference on
Planning and Scheduling
June 3-7,
2004
Whistler,
British Columbia, Canada
AI applications are often knowledge intensive, and planning tasks
are no exception. While much
research is being conducted on formal properties and algorithmic aspects of
planning, an important open issue is how these approaches work when integrated
with complex domain knowledge.
This workshop will focus on practical issues of knowledge capture for
planning applications, including:
·
design and development of knowledge-intensive planning
applications
·
expressive knowledge representation languages for planning
·
interactive approaches to the formulation of planning knowledge
·
learning techniques to acquire planning knowledge
·
knowledge engineering of planning domains
·
knowledge extraction from on-line sources
·
knowledge exchange among cooperating planning agents
·
customization and adaptation of planning domains
·
integration of planning with complementary or specialized
techniques to represent and reason about knowledge
·
integration of knowledge-based approaches and planning algorithms
·
maintenance of planning domain knowledge
The workshop will include long and short paper presentations, a
demonstration and poster session, and discussion sessions. Short papers are encouraged with brief
overviews of ongoing or preliminary work, as well as discussions or position
statements.
SUBMISSIONS AND PARTICIPATION
There is no early deadline for demonstrations or posters. One-page descriptions of these
submissions should be sent to the co-chairs, and will be compiled and
distributed at the workshop. Long
paper submissions should be at most six pages, short papers should be at most
two. The deadline is February 17,
2004. All submissions should use
the same format as the ICAPS main program submissions and be mailed in PDF
format to kcap-icaps03@isi.edu.
