This is a picture of the outside of the new Parliment building. In 1999, the Scots voted for "devolution" which gives them an independent parliment that can vote on "devolved matters", such as tourism, fishing, education and Gaelic. For other matters, such as foreign policy, the parliment in Englad still makes the choice. However, there has been a parliment in Scotland since the 1200s, so this is not to imply that Parliment is new to the country. The people I talked to were quite passionate about this building. They either loved it, or hated it. Apparently, it's an order of magnitude over budget (450M pounds).
