Comment: This is a view of the North bridge from the Waverly bridge. The grassy area is Prince's Street Gardens which is in front of Prince's Street. It used to be the Nor Loch (North Lake), but was filled in and converted to this garden to entice the wealthy to move out of the overcrowded old city, into the "new city" across the North Bridge, which they did, building homes along Prince's Street.

view_waverly_bridge_2 * This is another shot from Waverly Bridge. The buildings in the background are very old, which always amazes me as an American in Europe. You will see stores and people carrying on their everyday lives within buildings that are twice as old as my country... * 640 x 480 * (130KB)

castlecliff2 * This is a picture taken from Prince's Street. In the background high up on the mountain is the first picture I took of Edinburgh Castle. Below are the gardens once more, and I forgot who the dude on the horse is... * 640 x 480 * (118KB)

castlevillage * This is another shot of the mountain top where the castle is. This shot shows part of the village that sprang up around the castle, under its protection. * 640 x 480 * (123KB)

castlecliff * This is a view of the castle from my tour bus. * 640 x 480 * (118KB)

oldlawn * To be honest, I don't remeber what the guide said about this...it looks like some sort of lawn bowling area or something, with an old cemetary in the background. There are lots of old cemetaries in Edinburgh, and lots of ghost tours. * 640 x 480 * (123KB)
