  • Member of the Medical Information Systems Division and Center for Health Informatics led by Dr. Carl Kesselman. Project member on NIH Biomedical Informatics Research Network (BIRN), NSF Community Driven Improvement to Globus Software (CDIGS), DOE Center for Enabling Distributed Petascale Science (CEDPS), and DOE Earth System Grid (ESG).
  • Research and development of distributed scientific data management technologies including: distributed replica location services (Globus RLS), policy-based data replication, batch data transfer management. Co-author of several journal, conference and workshop papers on distributed data management.
  • Support scientists working at major collaboratories including: physicists at Laser Interferometer Gravitational Wave Observatory (LIGO), atmospheric researchers at Earth System Grid (ESG), and earthquake researchers at Southern California Earthquake Center (SCEC).
  • Developed tools for the open source Globus Toolkit for Grid computing.

  • Founding member of company that developed data integration software for clients including Online Computer Library Center (OCLC); Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) with Warner Music, Sony, and EMI; major publishers including Time Warner Publishing, McGraw-Hill Higher Education, and Harvard Business School Press (HBSP). Acquired in 2004.
  • Co-inventor of dynamic service composition technique (significant to data integration problems) based on constraint satisfaction programming. Awarded US Patent.
  • Responsible for the design, development and for leading the product development team (6 members) for data integration software through multiple software development lifecycles and successful customer implementations. Provided technical oversight for offshore professional services (60 members in multiple teams).
     
1998-2000 Technical Lead/Manager,
XEROX Corporation, El Segundo, California
  • Early member of the Xerox Rights Management Center (XRMC) research and development team led by Dr. Prasad Ram. XRMC developed secure document management technology and a patent portfolio that was acquired by Microsoft.
  • Responsible for leading technology/IP creation process which resulted in expanding the IP portfolio of the team (5-7 members).
  • Co-inventor of format-preserving encryption method to secure content throughout playback. Awarded US and international patents.
  • Investigated secure document management techniques on a Xerox PARC project with the Los Alamos National Lab as part of the Nuclear Weapons Archiving Project.
  • Designed and developed rights management tools for the self-protecting document and rights management back office services.
     
1996-1998 Associate Software Developer,
Candle Corporation (now IBM Tivoli), Santa Monica, California
  • Developed the Candle AF/REMOTE outboard automation and remote access tool used by major banks, retailers, and telcos. Still distributed by IBM.
