First Lutheran Church of Venice is pleased to present the second season of Masters in the Chapel.
Come and hear some of the best musicians in Los Angeles perform an hour of glorious music
in the intimacy and acoustic spendor of our sanctuary.
Colburn Children's Choir Sunday, December 8, 2002, at 4:00pm
These joyful and inspiring young musicians return to sing J.S. Bach's Gloria and Alleluia,
Gloria and Laudamus Te from the Vivaldi Gloria in D, along with winter favorites from
around the world.
Pacific Harmony String Quartet Sunday, February 9, 2003, at 4:00pm
An exotic and enchanting program merging traditional Chinese folk songs and ancient
tunes with the western classical sounds of Mozart and Brahms. The foursome
includes Los Angeles Philharmonic violinists Suli Xue, Jonathan Wei and Hui Liu
and cellist Pinfei Tang.
Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra Sunday, March 30, 2003, at 4:00pm
A trio with harp performs French works that are seldom heard live including Saint-Saens'
Fantasie for Violin and Harp and Ibert's Trio for Violin, Cello and Harp.
Acclaimed musicians JoAnn Truovsky on harp, Jacqueline Brand on violin and
Armen Ksajikian on cello play this gorgeous program.
Los Angeles Master Chorale Sunday, May 4, 2003, at 4:00pm
Music Director Grant Gershon returns for an intimate piano/vocal recital with his wife,
soprano Elissa Johnston. The soloists are planning a concert of music from the
beginnings of our country-tunes passed from one generation to the next, that now
make up the cultural quilt of America.
