How to pronounce your last name? |
| Well, yes my first name is difficult to pronounce in English (my advisor, John, spend a whole week to make it sounds OK...). But now I have a good way to help people pronounce it (thanks to one of my English teachers, Tracy, she figured this way out!), it sounds like pronouncing "shoe-in" in 500ms. Got it? Thanks! | |||||||
Why don't you use an Engelish name? |
Two reasons: 1. I would like to promote my Chinese name; 2. Before I came to US, I had an English name: John... Yes, here is the the problem, it's the same as John's... (who is John? John is the one who pays my salary... :-) I know John won't feel this bothers him, but as I didn't use English name much in China and in US I have the reason 1, I don't use that English name any more. BTW, I recently have a new English name: Jason. But I haven't started to use it formally. Probably becasue of inertia. |
