SURE performs applied research to make chips\u202ftrustworthy, secure, resilient and reliable.\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>SURE is a unit of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.isi.edu\/\">Information Sciences Institute (ISI)<\/a>, part of the University of Southern California&#8217;s highly ranked Viterbi School of Engineering. We investigate state-of-the-art\u202fmanufacturing complexities that significantly have compromised the critical\u202faspects of chip production. As experienced\u202findustry collaborators, SURE\u202fresearchers also aim to accelerate the scale, pace, and impact of hardware\u202frobustness and security technology\u202fdevelopment. In addition to these technology developments, <b>SURE\u202f <\/b>seeks to meet an urgent\u202fcybersecurity need: electronics hardware safety.\u202fThis hardware security\u202fis the foundation\u202fon\u202fwhich software security rests. The more powerful\u202fintegrated circuits become,\u202fthe more opportunities materialize for their integrity to be compromised.\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Disclosable government, industry and higher education partners and supporters that we have closely worked with (past and present) include: DARPA, IARPA, NASA, the Army Research Office, the Air Force Research\u202fLaboratory, Defense Threat\u202fReduction Agency, Xilinx Inc, Altera\u202fCorporation, Synopsys, Cadence, Stanford, Virginia Tech, Brigham Young\u202fUniversity, Arizona State, University of North Carolina and Georgia Tech Research Institute.\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>ISI pioneered fabless foundries with its launch of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mosis.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MOSIS<\/a> service in 1981, and continues to be integral to academic, corporate and national security chip design and prototyping. MOSIS has delivered more than 50,000 chip designs to customers ranging from research groups to Fortune 500 corporations. We also draw on other ISI areas of expertise, including the <a href=\"http:\/\/ccss.usc.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Center for Computer Systems Security<\/a>; high-performance and cloud computing; and Internet and networked systems, along with the Viterbi School.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>ISI is headquartered in Marina del Rey, California.
