Bio

As Chief Information Officer of ISI, Eileen Lu provides the vision and leadership in information technology necessary to advance the Institute’s research mission and direction, including strategic planning, policy and process development, create reliable, responsive, innovative, and secure IT services and capabilities with next generation/forward-looking technologies and support models with strong ties to peers and colleagues in the ISI, USC, and broader communities.

Eileen is also the Director of Computing and Information Services division who oversees and prioritizes the execution of key initiatives and management of IT operation, including infrastructure, network, security, client services, communication/messaging and project management through effective culture and process building exercises.

Prior to joining ISI, Eileen was the Director of Research Computing and Senior Manager of Client Services at UCLA School of Medicine Digital Technology with accomplishments including but not limited to high secure public cloud implementation for scientific research, large cloud email migration, desktop support and processes consolidation and quality improvement. She built a strong experience and understanding of challenges of providing support to research community as well as an excellent blend of innovation, support for end users and a deep understanding of resilient operations.

Because of Eileen’s experience supporting cloud adoption in an academic research organization constrained by one of the most restrictive compliance standards, she, along with selected Principal Investigators, was invited to participate in the NIH cloud program, “New Models of Data Stewardship”. Eileen is also known for building a strong and loyal team and fostering team members’ growth and skill-building by understanding their emerging talents and assisting them in achieving their desired career path.
