The 9th IEEE International Conference on Biometrics: Theory, Applications, and Systems (BTAS 2018)  will be hosted by USC’s Information Sciences Institute (ISI) in Torrance, CA, from October 22 – 25, and will be a great time and an exciting opportunity for all interested in biometrics.

To make the Conference a great success, we depend on local assistance from 20-25 volunteers.

Volunteers for BTAS 2018 will be the first contact for many of the attendees. Their role will be critical in welcoming foreign and local participants, and fostering a spirit of hospitality throughout the event.

What you will do as a volunteer:

  • Assist with preparing welcome packets for conference attendees
  • Welcome local and foreign attendees at the front desk
  • Monitor main room and poster rooms during the event
  • Give directions to attendees

What we look for in a volunteer:

  • Availability to attend one info session two weeks before the conference
  • Availability for at least two 6-hour shifts during the event
  • Someone who enjoys working with the public
  • Someone who can anticipate problems
  • Someone that can bring the SoCal spirit to the event!

What we will offer to the volunteers:

  • Free attendance to the conference
  • Free attendance to reception and dinner with attendees of the event
  • The chance to network with experts from the industry
  • Lunches during the shifts
  • A T-Shirt of the event!

Applications are closed, please contact Viviana Teofilo if you have any question.
