The US Department of Homeland Security has now signed a 5- year $16 million contract with USC to expand and improve ISI’s DETERlab testbed, called DETECT.

Along with its use in classes, DETER has been recently used to introduce undergraduate students to cybersecurity research

This event was the first in-depth review of Federal cybersecurity R&D objectives and provided insights into the priorities shaping the direction of Federal research activities.

William J. Lynn spoke to an audience of more than 80 business leaders and academics about “Redefining the Front Lines of National Security.”

The event was held under the auspices of a coalition of Internet organizations.

The National Cyber Range will be a test bed consisting of computers and computer systems on which various cyber scenarios may be evaluated.

DETER is a partnership between ISI, the University of California, Berkeley, and Sparta, Inc.

In addition to the Postel Center-provided documents, the book contains much more hard-to-locate material on the origins of today’s Internet.

While the system is still in the Beta, or development phase, the technology is robust.
