If you just want to run simulations (but not change the source code), you 
can try the file: ftp://catarina.usc.edu/pub/ahelmy/ns-2.zip,
[this is the last ns-allinone release, but does not include the code from 
the latest daily snapshots.]

otherwise you'd have to recompile from the pieces and get the source code 
from the ns home page.
