help on tracing values

Hi,
I am having trouble figuring out how the output trace file is produced when
running TCP scripts.  From what I can tell, the traceVar() and traceAll()
and trace() methods are actually never invoked (i.e. the ones in tcp.cc).
The output file just doesn't match up to what's printed in those functions.

Also, is there documentation about TracedInt and TracedDouble or any other
types that are available?
