about Mtrace

Dear forks,

    I have a puzzle about mtrace.I have two hosts belonged to two
subnet,202.119.36.81 and 202.119.37.82.I use IP multicast's socket  API
to be able to exchange each other,but can't use mtrace to trace the
routing path.
  Mtrace reports timeout.Assume The host 202.119.36.81 cann't ping
202.119.37.82 ,but 202.119.37.82 can ping the other host. My
202.119.37.82 is a AIX ATM network and 37.82 is lan emulation address.
36.81 is SUNOS 5.

  Why I can't trace multicast routing path but can send/receive
infomation?
