Hierarchical addressing

Hi,

I don't understand this part of a script I've found in tcl/ex/ :

$ns set-address-format hierarchical

AddrParams set domain_num_ 3
lappend cluster_num 2 1 1
AddrParams set cluster_num_ $cluster_num
lappend eilastlevel 1 1 4 1
AddrParams set nodes_num_ $eilastlevel

What does it mean ?
Is there an equivalent with the folowing function
$ns set-address-format hierarchical .... ?

I don't understand the meaning of cluster_num_ and nodes_num_
