ns-allinone 2.1b4a installation problem

Dear All,

 I am installing ns-allinone 2.1b4a (there is a reason why I don't try
ns-2.1b5)
 on a Sun Ultra 5 machine and I am having the following problem:
during the compilation of ns-2 the following mesage appears:

 Undefined symbol version_string in file misc.o
 ld: fatal: Symbol referencing errors. No output given to ns
make: *** [ns] Error 1
 Ns make failed! Exiting.....

It appears that the version.c file does not exist in the directory
ns-2/gen.
 I have tried many things ( comment the $(RM) $@ in the make file,
etc..)


 Please help.....
