RE: Why can't I extract the ns-2.1b5 file with winzip?

Hello,

I had similar problems with trying to extract
the downloads. Try renaming the file(s) to end
with a .gz extension instead of .tar . When you
run winzip on the newly renamed file, it may ask
for the full name of the file contained with the
archive. Make sure that the filename that
is displayed in that dialog box ends in .tar
(change it if it does not).

I am not certain what the problem is, or why these
steps are necessary, but at least they worked.

Hope this helps,

David

Perhaps it does not support tar? Also you should be prepared if you use ns
on win32 since all the daily _snapshots_ are only built on unices and not
guaranteed to work on windows.
