Thanks for the patches for the const problem (in your later message).

About the MSVC warnings, I'm happy to take patches to fix them,
but I don't think we can reliably make them go away on our own,
since we don't usually use that complier.

Ns should not trigger any of gcc's warnings, if that's any consolation.
