FTP and Telnet Applications

Title: FTP and Telnet Applications

Hi,

I am applying FTP and Telnet applications on TCP/RENO agent, and they are attached to different source nodes. Each source node has a connection to a central node with link BW 100Mbps. The simulation results showed me that FTP will occupy as much bandwidth as it has (100Mbps), while Telnet will only occupy small amount of BW, most of the time is 0. There are no packets drops in the middle of the network, otherwise it will also affect FTP. I saw a similar discussion in the mailing list of 08/1998. The solution is simulation time is too short, but in my case, the simulation time is 20 seconds. I am wondering what causes this problem? Is it because FTP is bulk data transfer, while Telnet is just remote terminal access, won't occupy much BW?

I appreciate your help.
