[ns] problem with install

hi,
Could someone help me in install ns-2
I tried installing on Red Hat LINUX 6.1
but it says could not execute ./install
i tried the following
-install
-./install
actually it tries to execute "install" command present
rather than script provided and it asks for parameters
-in X windows
pop up menu saying could not execute "install"
even tried giving permissions but in vain
Any help in this matter would be duly appreciated
