[ns] Simulation results

I am trying to run a simulation of the different protocols found in the CMU
ns extensions and was wondering if you could give me some help with
generating and viewing trace files. I want to collect data on the
simulations, but do I need to add more code to the tcl file or create a
separate file? I produce the   ***--out.tr file but when trying to run it I
get the following:

invalid command name "M"
    while executing
"M 0.0 nn 3 x 1500 y 300 rp DSR"
    (file "dsr-out.tr" line 1)
