[ns] creating ./gen - make: Fatal error in reader: Makefile, line 23: Unexpected end of line seen

I am attempting to install ns-allinone-2.1b6 on a Solaris machine. I  
have got the  following error message. 

I seem to get most of the way then somewhere near the end of my 
allinone install I get the following:
