There's no reason ns shouldn't build on Irix.
The error message you report (1) seems Irix specific (does it have a
new and old 32 bit library format?), (2) seems relatively unrelated to ns (the
problem is with an X11 library and building Tk...
I suggest for Tk build problems you look at www.scriptics.com.
