[ns] real world ARP implementation?!

The arp in the current ns-2 has only one packet buffer. Does anyone know if any real world implementation buffers more than one packet? It seems to me that a small buffer is necessary to avoid temporary packet drops due to ARP requests not getting through in case of collision.

Any information is greatly appreciated!
