[ns] nodes for high-speed simulation

Hi all,
I want to do some simulations with high-speed networks (link BW of
atleast 100Mbps). Can I do more than just changing the link speed of the
various links in my WAN to the order of 100 Mbps ? My specific question
is 'Is there something I can do to the nodes so that they simulate a
high-speed network in the way they process the different packets (faster
processing perhaps) ?'
