[ns] "make depend" and "make" / including new protocols

Hello all,

I have a question regarding the inclusion of new protocols in ns:

Is there an alternative way to use a new protocol in ns than the usual
"make depend" and "make" sequence?

These take quite a long time, but occasionally I have to repeat "make" a

few times when my protocols require additional changes after testing
them. This sometimes results in me spending more time waiting for "make"

than I would like to.
